Here’s a wee morsel to get you started. I mentioned Gimp a while back as a free downloadable photo editor. Nice but not good if you want a whole class to use it and there’s no time to get it set up on all machines.
Well, here’s a brand new photo editor that runs purely in your browser; the unpronounceable Pixlr!
It’s still at beta stage so it’s pretty buggy but it’s a world away from Picasa. It’s more like Photoshop in that it uses layers (so you can built montages) and the tools are pretty similar (if less numerous).
Make sure you have the latest Flash installed.
The Swedish developers specifically say this is for non-pro use so don’t expect miracles, but for every problem you encounter just tell yourself that a) it’s running in your browser and b) you didn’t pay for anything.
Now all we need is a decent video editor on the same lines.
And can we please stop this trend for removing vowels out of software titles? It’s not bg or clevr.
