I’m writing an essay at the moment that refers to blog posts, websites, wikis and Google search results as well as the more traditional papers and books. This has been a really useful guide. -

Matt Lingard from the LSE reports on work suggesting that for academic blogs to have maximum impact they should have multiple authors and he explains the reasons.
Certainly, the LSE politics blog is a good case in point - http://blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandpolicy/.
Note, he’s not devaluing individual blogging, just saying that it is less likely to have impact.
